Matilda Joslyn Gage was an early women’s rights activist and suffragist. She was the daughter of one of Cicero’s earliest physician’s Hezekiah Joslyn. Gage was a prolific writer on a wide variety of subjects, and was one of the speakers at the Third National Women’s Rights Convention held in Syracuse, NY in 1852.

Judy Boyke was accompanied at a Friday, August 19th (1:30pm) news conference by John MacDougall, President and CEO of Nice N Easy. The news conference took place at the construction site of MacDougall’s newest store which he calls “the biggest and best store we have built so far.” Nice N Easy operates over 80 stores throughout New York State with headquarters in Canastota.

At this event, Supervisor Boyke in addition to lauding MacDougall and his decision to build this store also announced her decision to seek re-election as Cicero supervisor in this November election.

Boyke explained that his project is a prime example of what she has worked throughout her service as Cicero Supervisor. First she said, I promised to work to bring economic development and jobs to our town. John MacDougall’s decision to bring his store with a new design and the capacity to test new products is a good example of our progress to bring such projects to the Town of Cicero.

Supervisor Boyke said, I have been committed to changing the face of Brewerton and in particular

bringing a new food and grocery outlet to our community. This magnificent facility located at the Gateway to Brewerton will provide a state -of –the- art grocery store for residents.

According to MacDougall, “this Nice N Easy will be a state-of -the art facility “which includes a full service Easy Street Eatery with freshly prepared hot food and cold food items and a produce department. The new store will also offer gasoline and diesel fuel, a wide selection of grocery items at competitive prices and a number of other services. The new location will be open 24 hours a day. MacDougall also reported “The Town of Cicero has been very helpful and cooperative to help make this exciting project happen. We look forward to serving our neighbors at the end of October in our GREATEST Nice N Easy Shoppe.”

Supervisor Boyke concluded by saying she will continue her efforts to bring quality economic development to the Town of Cicero and she will work diligently to move Brewerton Revitalization project to a successful conclusion. Along with this other projects or new business in the Town include Solvay Bank, Kyoto Restaurant, Pathfinder Bank, Rescue Mission, Flamingo Car Wash, Empower Credit Union, First Niagara Bank, Earthtone Coffee, Misty Moon Café, Smith Boys Sea Ray Boats, Mavis Tire/Cole Muffler, The Boardwalks, Whittacker Auto Sales
